Copper Running Light, Oil Fired, circa late 1800's
This is a massive old, all copper, running light measuring 19" x 10" and weighing in at more than 13 #. The Fresnel glass is clear and chip free. The original oil pot and filling mechanism is intact. There is partial manufacturer's logo marked "BE..." on the oil pot assembly.
This original running light is very unusual since the Fresnel glass is clear and there is a blue tinted glass lens (frame is intact, but part of the lens is missing) behind it to give the correct color green indication. The blue light changes wavelength at a very short distance so the starboard light is really blue, but shows green. Very Salty!
