Rare! - This is a British Model 1804 Royal Navy cutlass.  Blade has the mark of “GR” (King George III) and the crown.  The hand wrought iron guard is referred to as the “figure eight” or the double-disk” cutlass.  This was the primary cutlass used throughout the War of 1812. This cutlass was a regulation sea service weapon used by the British Royal Navy at both Trafalgar against the French and Spanish Navies and during the War of 1812 with the United States. The markings are bright and clear. Professionally mounted and ready to display.  This cutlass is in very good condition considering its use in a salt water environment!
