Cutlass Display, US Navy Model 1917 and Dutch Klewang, circa WWI/WWII
This professionally made display measuring 16.5" wide by 48" high has a US Navy and a US made Dutch cutlass mounted on it.
The cutlass next to the scabbard is a US Navy Model 1917 issued to ordinary seamen from 1917 to 1949. After 1949 ship's armories kept a small stock of these aboard to issue for parades and ceremonies.
The other cutlass is a US Model 1940 Klewang Naval Cutlass. It's a rare addition since the VINCE Co. made these for the Netherlands for a very short time in the late 1930's. The "VINCE" maker mark is on the ricasso and the piece is in wonderful condition.
