The main subject of the print, the \u003cem\u003eNellie L. Byrd\u003c\/em\u003e, was built in 1911 at Oriole, MD.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1822, Bloody Point Lighthouse was erected in seven feet of water to mark the southern tip of Kent Island. It was manned until 1960 when a fire gutted the structure. After a quick repair, the tower was automated and still serves as an aid to navigation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe artist, John Morton Barber, has painted the Chesapeake Bay and the eastern seaboard for over four decades.
