Handblown Glass Radiometer Bulb
Handblown Glass Radiometer Bulb. Sizes vary from 2.5" to 3.5" diameter.
The Crookes radiometer (also known as a light mill) consists of an airtight glass bulb containing a partial vacuum, with a set of vanes which are mounted on a spindle inside. The vanes rotate when exposed to light, with faster rotation for more intense light, providing a quantitative measurement of electromagnetic radiation intensity.
We have an exclusive contract with our own glass blower, Hans, in Wertheim, Germany; picturesquely located on the banks of the Tauber and Main rivers. His family fled East Germany during the Cold War and re-established themselves as premier glass-makers; carrying on the trade for the last five generations. Working in conjunction with their artisans we have produced the finest, collectible, nautical glass art. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and delightful to own. Truly unique and Salty!
