Known as "The Great White Steamer", the Catalina was a 301 foot steamship built in 1924. She provided passage between Los Angeles and Catalina Island for 51 years and carried more passengers than any other vessel anywhere!
She also served as a troop ferry from 1942-1946, transporting troops between embarkation camps and departure piers in San Francisco. The Catalina ran aground in Mexico in 1997 and partially sank. She was scrapped in 2009.
