This 1943 U.S. Navy Spyglass is a Quartermaster, Mark 1, Model 1, 16 Power. It comes with its original wooden box complete with tag, plus padding to keep the spyglass secure. The box measures 34" long and the spyglass itself is 31" long. Additionally, it is marked "B.U. Ships No. 32608 1943" and made by the Wollensak Optical Co. in Rochester, New York. In the Original Oak Case. Circa WWII. This glass was carried by the Officer of the Deck (OOD) while in port and manning the ship's gangway in days gone by. The QMOW (Quarter Master of the Watch) was responsible for keeping and storing the long glass when it wasn't in use. A rare and authentic piece of nautical Navy history
