Model Set of 9 vessels. Complete Set. Used in WW II in recognition training of soldiers and pilots.

These incredible naval ship recognition models were used during World War II to teach soldiers how to differentiate between ally and enemy ships. In an effort to decrease incidents of friendly fire, the United States Government commissioned Framburg to craft numerous models of ships and other military vessels and equipment. The models, also known as I.D. or spotter's models, were cast in metal or wood and detailed with the primary distinguishing characteristics to help troops recognize friend from foe. Fascinating relics of World War II history, these models are in wonderful condition. Each ship is marked underneath with the ship's type and nationality; the larger models are stamped "H.A. Framburg & Co. Chicago."
