This is an original 37×145R M16 artillery shell casing, manufactured in 1918 by the Pennsylvania Electric Manufacturing Company (P.E.M.Co.) for the U.S. Army’s 37mm M1916 “1-Pounder” gun. These light field and infantry guns were among the first small artillery pieces deployed by American forces during World War I.
