Offered here is a finely detailed scrimshaw piece depicting a sailor climbing rigging, signed Martins. The image is etched and inked onto a whale tooth–shaped piece mounted on a hardwood display base. The craftsmanship shows intricate linework typical of mid-20th century scrimshaw, with nice shading and nautical subject matter.
The tooth is naturally curved, with a smooth polished surface, and measures approximately 7 inches tall and 4 inches wide. Mounted securely on a fitted wooden stand with felt bottom for display.
