Offered here is an authentic gyro-compass repeater dial plate manufactured by the Sperry Gyroscope Company, New York, a premier supplier of naval navigation equipment throughout the mid-20th century.
This heavy metal dial face features 360° markings around the edge with bold cardinal and intercardinal points (N, NE, E, etc.), along with the Sperry maker’s mark. It would have been mounted on a naval ship as part of a gyro-compass repeater system, which displayed the vessel’s true heading (unaffected by magnetic north) at multiple stations, such as the bridge, gunnery control, or navigation rooms.
