Large old canvas ship bag labelled “QUARTER DECK LIFE ROPES. NO.3”. The bag measures 21 inches wide and 32 inches long and is constructed from heavyweight cotton canvas. The bag is hand-stitched to ensure long-term durability for heavy contents like coiled ropes. The workmanship shows a good deal of skill in the fairly regular and well-spaced hand stitching. The bag has a drawstring type closure at the top with one-quarter inch thick rope and side seam reinforcement. This bag is a good example of something made for a working environment.
