Wooden Block

This substantial antique ship’s block once played an essential role in the rigging of a working vessel. Measuring 12 inches wide by 14 inches tall, it features a double-sheave design with original iron hardware, including a heavy-duty shackle at the top.

The block body is crafted from solid hardwood with deep rope wear and weathering, while the iron fittings display a rich aged patina from years of maritime use. The dual pulley wheels (sheaves) allowed sailors to gain mechanical advantage when hoisting sails, cargo, or other heavy loads at sea.
