This authentic wooden deadeye once served as a vital rigging component aboard a sailing vessel. Measuring 9 inches high by 7 inches wide, it was used in conjunction with lanyards to tension and secure shrouds (the standing rigging that supported a ship’s masts).
Hand-carved from dense hardwood, the piece features three circular holes and deeply recessed grooves for rope. Its smooth surface bears the patina of age and use at sea, making it both a functional maritime artifact and a striking decorative piece.
