This precision navigational instrument was standard issue during World War II for U.S. Navy ships, designed to aid sailors in celestial navigation.

  • Markings: Brass plate on the box reads "U.S. Navy Bureau of Ships, Mark II, Type No. 3050-1-C, 1941".

  • Certificate: Original U.S. Naval Observatory Certificate of Inspection dated July 17, 1942, with eccentricity corrections noted.
