This is an authentic U.S. Navy wardroom napkin ring from the USS Stanly (DD-478), a Fletcher-class destroyer that served with distinction during World War II.
The lightweight metal ring is engraved:
“GUEST 5 – U.S.S. STANLY”
This piece would have been used in the officers’ mess to identify a guest’s napkin and seat. Each visiting dignitary, officer, or allied guest aboard ship was provided with a numbered napkin ring, ensuring Navy traditions of formality and hospitality were maintained even during wartime.
