An authentic 1991 Soviet Navy officer cadet’s cap from a Higher Naval Political School, made in Odessa.

Key Details:

  • Cap badge: Red star with hammer and sickle, framed by golden laurel leaves — standard Soviet military insignia.

  • Ribbon inscription: The Cyrillic text reads “ВЫСШЕЕ ВОЕН.-МОР. ПОЛИТ. УЧИЛИЩЕ”, which translates to “Higher Naval Political School”. This indicates it belonged to a cadet or graduate of one of the Soviet Union’s naval officer training academies.

  • Tally ends: The black ribbons hanging from the back of the cap are a traditional naval style, with anchors printed on the tips.

  • Interior marking: Shows a factory stamp with “Одесса” (Odessa), size “57”, and year 1991. Odessa (in present-day Ukraine) was one of the main production centers for Soviet naval uniforms.

Purpose:

This was part of the dress uniform for cadets at the Soviet Higher Naval Political School. Such institutions trained naval officers not only in seamanship but also in Marxist-Leninist ideology, ensuring they were politically reliable.
