Offered here is a antique nautical glass deck prism, traditionally used on sailing ships to bring natural sunlight below deck. This example features a hexagonal base and pyramid-shaped top, made of thick clear-to-green tinted glass. These prisms were mounted flush into the wooden decks of ships, allowing safe illumination of cargo holds and living spaces without the danger of open flames.
The glass shows light age and surface wear consistent with use and age. It is free of cracks or major chips, retaining excellent clarity.
