Authentic antique marine navigation lantern marked “A. U.S.L.H.S.” for the United States Lighthouse Service, the federal agency responsible for lighthouse and navigational aids prior to its merger into the U.S. Coast Guard in 1939.
This is a substantial and impressive early 20th century maritime beacon lantern featuring a heavy cast bronze body, original ribbed Fresnel-style glass lens, protective bronze cage, and conical top vent. An exceptional piece of authentic nautical history with outstanding display presence.
Unlike modern decorative reproductions, this is a genuine working navigational light used for marine service — likely from a pier, harbor beacon, breakwater, buoy station, or lighthouse-related installation.
The lantern retains its original aged bronze patina with beautiful weathered coloration and oxidation consistent with age and maritime use. The thick Fresnel-style lens remains intact and displays beautifully in natural light.
An outstanding statement piece for:
- maritime collections
- nautical decor
- coastal homes
- yacht clubs
- restaurants
- museums
- lighthouse enthusiasts
