This is an original World War II era U.S. Army Air Forces A-10 bubble sextant, manufactured by Fairchild Aviation Corporation of New York. These instruments were issued for aerial navigation and used extensively by bomber and transport crews during long-range flights.
The sextant comes housed in its original fitted wooden case with compartment for accessories, including spare eyepieces and tools. The instruction plate and data plate are intact, showing the contract and serial information. The interior still has its bubble chamber unit and adjustment controls, including the "Form Bubble" instructions plate, making this and excellent example for display or study.
