This is an original U.S. Maritime Commission ship’s clock, issued during World War II for use aboard U.S. merchant and auxiliary vessels. The clock features a heavy cast metal bulkhead case with mounting holes and a silvered dial marked “U.S. Maritime Commission.”

  • Maker: Seth Thomas style (often produced by Seth Thomas or Chelsea during WWII)

  • Era: 1940s, World War II

  • Dial: Original silvered dial with bold Arabic numerals, seconds track, and “U.S. Maritime Commission” marking

  • Movement: Mechanical wind-up with winding key slot (key not included)

  • Case: Heavy cast metal, painted black, with mounting holes and side hinge for bulkhead installation

  • Condition: Clock shows appropriate wear from age and service use. Case has surface wear and paint loss. Glass intact. Appears complete but has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy – being sold as-is.

These clocks were ruggedly built for shipboard duty and are now sought after by collectors of maritime antiques, WWII memorabilia, and nautical decor.
